CANADIAN FLUTIST

Canadian flutist Katie Kirkpatrick hails from Timmins, Ontario, and currently resides in London, Ontario.  With a love of solo, chamber, and orchestral playing, she has performed in Canada and Europe through various organizations such as her hometown Timmins Symphony Orchestra, the Domaine Forget Academy (Quebec), the Breno Italy International Music Academy, and the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (Prague, Czechia).  Katie has earned numerous distinctions for her work including winning the Maritsa Brookes Concerto Competition, the Young-Ja Park Chamber Music Award with Ventis Concorddiae, the Sandra Bowler Flute Award, and the Best Instrumentalist Plaques and Rosebowl from the Porcupine Music Festival.  In late 2022, she had the honour of making her concerto soloist debut with the Western University Symphony Orchestra.  Katie holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from Western, and is currently completing an Artist Diploma with Professor Stephen Tam, also at Western University.
